The Theory Of Everything's Eddie Redmayne (Fantastic Beasts) and Felicity Jones (Rogue One) are in talks to reteam on The Aeronauts for Amazon Studios.

The combination of Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones led to an Oscar win, several nominations and plenty of praise for The Theory Of Everything. And now they’re getting ready to work together again for the upcoming period action adventure The Aeronauts about real-life 19th century hot air balloonists, that would be directed and produced by Tom Harper (Peaky Blinders, War & Peace).

The screenplay is based on the true story of balloon pilot Amelia Wren (who would be played by Jones) and scientist James Glaisher (Redmayne) who, in 1862, embarked on an extraordinary journey to discover the secrets of the heavens. In the process, they flew higher in an open balloon than anyone had before or has since. They made breathtaking discoveries, but as they ascended to the highest points of the atmosphere, they were forced into an epic fight for survival.

Jack Thorne has written the script for the film, which has Amazon Studios' backing, after wining the rights in a bidding war. While it appears that the leads are close to deals, there's no schedule in place to shoot yet.

Redmayne can next be heard in the animated film Early Man, to which he lent his voice, and next be seen in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald reprising his role of Newt Scamander. The sequel to last year’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is scheduled to hit theaters on November 16, 2018. A spin-off of the Harry Potter franchise, the first film brought in over $814 million at the global box office.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story‘s Jones can next be seen in the upcoming biopic On the Basis of Sex, detailing the life story of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
