American Horror Story and Carol’s Sarah Paulson is in talks to join movie adaptation of 'The Goldfinch'.
The 'American Horror Story' actress is in negotiations to join the cast of the film adaptation of “The Goldfinch,” an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap. The book was an international bestseller, staking out territory on the New York Times bestseller list for a whopping thirty weeks. Reportedly, the film will be directed by John Crowley and also features actors Ansel Elgort and Aneurin Barnard. The project is being developed by Warner Bros and Amazon Studios.
According to Variety, should Paulson sign up for the role she will star as Xandra, the girlfriend of main character Theodore Decker's father. Based on Donna Tartt’s Pulitzer-winning book, “The Goldfinch” tells the story of a young man named Theodore Decker, portrayed by Ansel Elgort, who survives a terrorist bombing at an art museum, an attack that kills his mother. From there, he tumbles through a series of adventures that finds him living in Las Vegas with his deadbeat father and, later, involved in art forgeries.
Paulson is a national treasure which is why we’re in full support of casting her in everything. As it stands now, Paulson is anchoring FX’s American Horror Story and American Crime Story. She’ll lead Netflix’s One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest prequel as a young Nurse Ratched and co-star in the upcoming all female Oceans Eight movie. She also has a role in Steven Spielberg’s Oscar buzzy Pentagon Papers drama The Post and M. Night Shyamalan’s Unbreakable and Split sequel Glass.
Elgort shot to fame co-starring in two adaptations of young adult fiction novels, the “Divergent” trilogy and “The Fault in Our Stars”. This year he’s expanded his repertoire with the title role in the music-driven heist thriller “Baby Driver”.
