The Marvel Studios president expressed his own excitement for Justice League.
With both Thor: Ragnarok and Justice League being released almost a week apart from each other, it’s normal that both the DC and Marvel fandom start to be divisive between themselves. However, in an interview with Crave, Marvel Studios head honcho Kevin Feige weighed in on the Marvel/DC rivalry and expressed his own excitement for Justice League.
“I think movies are awesome and people should go out and support awesome movies, and I go support those movies and I thought Wonder Woman was awesome. I can’t wait to see what Geoff Johns and Joss [Whedon] and the gang has done with Justice League. I guess people like rivalries, I guess? I don’t know. But I’m seeing Geoff Johns in a couple weeks for dinner. We went to this Dick Donner event together. Dick’s Superman is still the best archetype of superhero films. So yeah, just go see cool movies. What are you fighting about?”
The rivalry between fans of Marvel and DC has its roots in the comics fandom, going back decades, but it’s never really been reflected on the creative side, with both companies generally holding a high level of respect for each other. The rivalry between the fandoms has only been amplified as Marvel has enjoyed amazing success with their movies as DC has stumbled a bit, with social media swarming with fights between the factions.
Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash, it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
Justice League hits theaters November 17, 2017.
