Bruce Willis is gearing up for one more adventure as John McClane!

Director Len Wiseman, co-creator of the Underworld franchise and director of Die Hard 4.0, told Deadline that the 62-year-old actor will be reprising his role for the upcoming film Die Hard: Year One, the production is underway, and that they are currently on the hunt for an actor to play a younger version of John McClane.

No plot details have been released, but the film will follow two tracks involving McClane’s character: One in present day and the other in 1970’s New York, during which McClane was an NYPD beat cop. In the earlier films of the series, there were many references to McClane’s early days on the force, and now fans will get to see that in action.

Willis will portray McClane in the present day storyline, but Wiseman will be casting a new actor to play the character in the 1970’s flashbacks.

“The right casting for this role is crucial,” Wiseman said to Deadline. “Those bare feet have some very big shoes to fill.”

Willis told Showbiz Spy in 2010 (via Moviehole) that he has every intention to retire from the franchise after its sixth installment: "In the next few years they could easily find a replacement for me or call the character someone else. But for me, I want to do Die Hard 5, then one final Die Hard movie, Die Hard 6, before finally hanging that white vest up for good.

“At the moment, I can run and I can fight on screen. But there will come a time when I no longer want to do that. That's when I'll step away from the Die Hard films."

Bruce has portrayed the iconic role since 1988 and has starred in five Die Hard films to date. The first Die Hard film saw Willis battle against bank robber Alan Rickman as he held a building hostage. Die Hard 2 saw the same format unfold in an airport, while Die Hard With A Vengeance saw Willis and Samuel L Jackson p[lay cat and mouse with a bomber in New York City. Die Hard 4.0 saw Willis return in 2007 to fight ‘digital terrorists’ and A Good Day to Die Hard was panned universally by pretty much everyone in 2013.

No release date has been set for the new Die Hard film.
