American Gods and Orange Is the New Black star Pablo Schreiber has been cast in Skyscraper, Deadline has confirmed.
Pablo Schreiber, who just finished his a first season as leprechaun Mad Sweeney on Starz’s acclaimed American Gods, has, per Deadline, joined the cast of the upcoming Dwayne Johnson actioner, Skyscraper. The film, which will re-team Johnson with his Central Intelligence director Rawson Marshall Thurber, also recently added Chin Han (Ghost In the Shell, Independence Day: Resurgence) and Neve Campbell (Scream, House of Cards) to its cast.
Skyscraper follows Johnson's former FBI agent Will Ford who now assesses skyscraper security. Following an overseas mission gone wrong, Ford is wrongfully framed for the destruction of the safest skyscraper ever built. The bulk of the film's plot will see Johnson's Ford exact a plan of vengeance to punish those behind the crime and clear his name, and attempt to rescue his family, still trapped inside the burning building above the fire line.
Details on Schreiber's character, such as a name or his relation to Johnson's lead role, haven't yet been announced, but we'll update you when we know more.
Schreiber’s career has largely been on television. He had roles on The Wire and Weeds before playing prison guard George “Pornstache” Mendez on Orange is the New Black, and psychotic killer William Lewis on Law & Order: SVU. He is already set to return to the second season of American Gods. He has also been appearing in films since his debut performance in the 2001 comedy Bubble Boy, and is currently set to appear in the upcoming movies Big Bear and Den of Theives.
Director Thurber has made an evolution towards this expected epic; from comedy We’re the Millers, to action-comedy Central Intelligence, his first collaboration with main man Dwayne Johnson, and now pure action Skyscraper.
Written and directed by Thurber, the 3D action-thriller is produced by Beau Flynn (San Andreas, Baywatch), Johnson and Thurber. Skyscraper’s executive producers are Dany Garcia (Baywatch, Ballers) and Hiram Garcia (San Andreas, Central Intelligence). Wendy Jacobson (San Andreas), meanwhile, is set to serve as co-producer. Skyscraper will hit the big screen Friday, July 13, 2018.
