The actor would look at offers if a sequel was planned.
Disney's Beauty and the Beast is already one of the year's biggest hits, becoming the first $1 billion movie at the global box office. As of now, we haven't heard anything about a potential sequel, but given its enormous success, it wouldn't be surprising if a sequel eventually happens. When that day does come, it seems Dan Stevens will be ready to return as the Beast, according to comments the actor made over the weekend.
Talking to Variety, Dan Stevens who plays the Beast in the film was asked about the possibility of a sequel and the actor replied that he's open to whatever offers may come his way regarding a return to this magical world. Here's what the actor had to say during the Tribecca Film Festival below.
“That’s not a question for me. I’m not sure what turn that would take. I’m open to offers. It would seem odd for me to hear about it, but never say never.”
For a story that’s as old as time itself, the Beast turns into a human at the end of the film. Stevens was asked if he would return as a human if the sequel ever hit production.
“I’d kind of like to bring the Beast back.”
Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” is a live-action adaptation of the studio’s animated classic which refashions the classic characters from the tale as old as time for a contemporary audience, staying true to the original music while updating the score with several new songs. “Beauty and the Beast” is the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within.
Directed by Bill Condon, the film stars Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Luke Evans, Emma Thompson, Ewan McGregor, Ian McKellen, Kevin Kline, Josh Gad, Stanley Tucci, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Audra McDonald. The movie also introduced Disney's first exclusively gay character in Le Fou (played by Josh Gad), whilst openly gay actor Luke Evans took on the role of the villain, Gaston.
However, with Gaston defeated and the Beast now back in human form, we're not entirely sure what shape a sequel could take.
