The Emmy nominations were announced on Thursday morning, revealing which of television's brightest stars will be competing at this year's ceremony. As usual, Game of Thrones again gets positive feedback from the critics.

An Emmy Award, or simply Emmy, recognizes excellence in the television industry, and corresponds to the Academy Award, the Tony Award, and the Grammy Award. On 14/7, the nominations of 68th Primetime Emmy Awards were announced, honoring TV series aired from 1/6/2015 to 31/5/2016.

Power-and-blood fantasy saga Game of Thrones ruled the Emmy Award nominations Thursday with a leading 23 bids, including Best Drama. Among the many nods are three for Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series, for Emilia Clark, Maisie Williams and Lena Headey, while Peter Dinklage and Kit Harington (who received his first Emmy nod ever) each scored an Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Drama Series nomination.

The BBC’s slick adaptation of John le Carré’s thriller The Night Manager also has swept the Emmys, earning Tom Hiddleston his first nomination for his portrayal of the ruthless Jonathan Pine. The six-part series, adapted by David Farr and brought into the world of modern warfare, was showered with 12 nominations, including best limited series. Hiddleston picked up a nomination for best actor in a limited series, pitting him against fellow Brits Idris Elba for Luther and Benedict Cumberbatch for Sherlock.
