Amanda Seyfried is set to reprise her role as Sophie in a sequel to the movie adaptation of the Mamma Mia! musical, Deadline reports.

According to Deadline, Seyfried has officially signed on for Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again! Streep has not yet been announced as part of the sequel’s cast, but according to The Tracking Board’s initial report for Mamma Mia 2, she’s expected to return in “smaller capacity.” Additionally, Pierce Brosnan, who played Sam Carmichael, Sophie’s possible father/step-father, seemingly confirmed his return; "Do [I] wanna dance, or do you wanna dance ? Mama Mia here we go again," the ex-007 actor wrote on Instagram alongside a photo from the original movie.

Back in 2008, the movie, which featured songs from supergroup ABBA, grossed over $600 million worldwide. The movie would mark exactly 10 years since the original film and is reported to be both a prequel and a sequel that's set in the present. The follow-up will be called Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again! and is slated for a release date of July 20, 2018. In the original, Amanda's character Sophie invites three of her mother’s former boyfriends (Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, and Stellan Skarsgård) to her wedding in hopes of learning which one is her father. The legendary Meryl Streep took on the role of Sophie’s mom and OG dancing queen, Donna.

Judy Craymer, who created and produced the popular stage musical that inspired the film, will produce with Gary Goetzman. The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel writer Ol Parker is set to write and direct. The sequel will feature the Swedish band ABBA’s hits not used in the original, and Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, whose disco jams provided the basis for the original musical back in the day, will, however, be back to write more catchy music and lyrics, in addition to serving as executive producers.
