Tom Holland Wants Tobey Maguire to Play Uncle Ben

Tom Holland knows exactly who he wants to play Uncle Ben in one of the future Spider-Man: Homecoming sequels.
The character of Ben Parker has been portrayed by two legendary actors. In the Sam Raimi trilogy, Academy Award-winner Cliff Robertson portrayed Uncle Ben to Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker. In Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man, Martin Sheen was in the same role to Andrew Garfield’s version of the webhead. And for Holland, during an interview, he expresses that he would like to see one of his Spidey predecessors play Uncle Ben, perhaps in flashbacks:
“I kinda want Tobey Maguire to play Uncle Ben, I think that’d be super funny, but I don’t think he’ll do it.”
Considering that Marisa Tomei’s version of Aunt May is the youngest take on the character yet too, Maguire could work age-wise for the role of Uncle Ben. So it’s less about whether or not Maguire would actually work as Uncle Ben and more about whether he would actually want to play the character.
Holland and Maguire met for the first time at a screening of Edgar Wright’s latest flick: Baby Driver.
“I met Tobey recently in LA at the screening for Baby Driver and he sat right in front of me and didn’t see me,” Holland mentioned. “I was like [whispers] ‘Tobey! Tobey!’”
A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.
The cast includes Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover, JacobBatalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, with Marisa Tomei, and Robert Downey Jr. It also includes Jon Favreau, Martin Starr, Kenneth Choi, Michael Mando, Selenis Leyva, Isabella Amara, Jorge Lendeborg, Jr., JJ Totah, and Hannibal Buress.
