“Star Wars: The Last Jedi” star Oscar Isaac reportedly in negotiations to voice Gomez Addams in the upcoming animated feature reboot of “The Addams Family”.

For years, many have noted Isaac’s resemblance to Raul Julia, who portrayed Gomez in two live-action Addams films in the 1990s and they have fan cast Oscar Isaac for the lead role in a fantasy Addams Family film. Now, according to Tracking Board, Oscar Isaac is in talks to make their wish come true. There’s no word on who they’re considering to voice the other members of the family, since, according to Tracking Board, “MGM is waiting to close its deal with Isaac first before moving on to the rest of the family.”

Sausage Party co-director Conrad Vernon is helming the project from a script by Corpse Bride and Monster House screenwriter Pamela Pettle. Vernon, Gail Berman and Alex Schwartz will produce tthe project which is currently in production at Cinesite Studios in Vancouver. A release date has not yet been announced.

The Addams Family originated in the late 1930s as a series of satirical cartoons for The New Yorker that were drawn by Charles Addams for some fifty years, until the time of his death. Among the more famous adaptations of Addams’ original comics are the 1960s black and white Addams Family television series (which ran for two seasons), as well as the live-action Addams Family movies that were released in the 1990s (in particular, the Barry Sonnenfeld-helmed The Addams Family and Addams Family Values). Back in 2010, it was reported that Tim Burton was developing a stop-motion Addams Family film, with the intention of potentially directing it. Ultimately, however, Burton’s adaptation fell by the wayside, clearing the way for MGM’s own animated iteration.
