Shia LaBeouf has found his next film. The actor will star in the adventure drama "The Peanut Butter Falcon".

After drawing acclaim for his supporting turn in American Honey, Shia LaBeouf has settled on his next film, and it’s a tasty one titled The Peanut Butter Falcon, the Tracking Board has confirmed. Tyler Nilson and Mike Schwartz have written the script and will direct the film, which Variety has learned has the feel of a Mark Twain story. The film follows Zak, a young man with Down syndrome, who runs away from the nursing home where he lives to pursue his dream of becoming a professional wrestler and attending the Saltwater Redneck wrestling school. Through circumstances beyond their control, a small-time outlaw also on the run (to be played by LaBeouf) becomes Zak’s unlikely coach and ally.

LaBeouf is one of the most gifted actors of his generation when he wants to be, and his talent should be on full display in the upcoming indie film Borg/McEnroe, in which he plays temperamental tennis pro John McEnroe. With this movie awaiting release, LaBeouf will be hoping it performs better than his last UK release, thriller Man Down, which famously sold just one ticket on its first day at the end of March. His other recent feature credits include David Ayer’s Fury and Lars von Trier’s Nymphomaniac, both of which showcase the intensity that has become the actor’s trademark.

Borg vs. McEnroe is an upcoming Swedish biographical film about one of the world's greatest icons Björn Borg and his biggest rival, the young and talented John McEnroe and their legendary duel during the 1980's Wimbledon tournament. It's a story about two men that became legends and the price they had to pay.
