Man of Steel 2 Hasn't Had a Script Yet

There is currently no script for a second Superman movie, though “various story ideas” have been discussed.

Reportedly, Man of Steel 2 doesn’t have a script in place, which suggests its release could be much farther away than initially thought. In an interview with The New York Times, DCEU producer Charles Roven admitted that Man of Steel 2 is not something Warner Bros. is focusing on right now, meaning fans shouldn’t expect it to arrive in the near future… if it ever arrives at all.

“The Superman sequel “Man of Steel 2” also isn’t coming anytime soon, if at all,” said the outlet. “Roven says there’s no script but “various story ideas” are being kicked around.”

However, while Man of Steel 2 may be a little uncertain at the moment, that doesn't mean all hope is lost for a sequel. If Justice League does well, and the solo films make sense, fans might eventually get a second round of Superman.

"One of the things that's really important to us with all of these DC movies is making sure that while they make sense, one from the other, because they're in a certain way linked, we also want to make sure that the audience is hopefully excited by the fact that you don't know exactly where you're going to go."

In August, a report emerged that Warner Bros. had put Man of Steel 2 into active development, an assertion confirmed mere weeks later by Henry Cavill’s agent Dany Garcia. Warner Bros. has staked out release dates in 2018, 2019 and 2020 for undisclosed “event” films, any one of which could belong to the sequel. Matthew Vaughn, whose credits include X-Men: First Class, Kick-Ass and Kingsman: The Secret Service, was reported in March to be in talks to director Man of Steel 2. He confirmed those reports in September. The release date for Man of Steel 2 is currently unknown.
