Shots Fired star Will Patton has signed on to round out the cast of David Gordon Green’s Halloween.

Will Patton is the latest addition to the Halloween 2018 sequel cast, reports The Tracking Board. He joins Jamie Lee Curtis, Judy Greer and Andi Matichak, who will play the three generations of Strode women who must fight for their lives and do battle against the walking evil known as Michael Myers. Details on his role are scarce so far, but he’ll play a cop. One wonders if his character will be any relation to Sheriff Brackett from the original Halloween.

Will Patton has had a long successful career in the business known as show, appearing in movies, TV and theater. He's perhaps best known for his roles in films like Armageddon, Remember the Titans, and Gone in 60 Seconds. On the small screen he was recently seen in Fox's Shots Fired, as well as a recurring role in The Goodwife.

The upcoming film will ignore all of the franchise's sequels, and pick up 40 years after the original film. David Gordon Green, who’s coming off the excellent and underrated drama Stronger, is directing from a script he co-wrote with Danny McBride. Jason Blum and Malek Akkad are producing for Blumhouse and Trancas International Films, respectively, and Miramax is also a producer on the project. Green and McBride are executive producing under their Rough House Pictures banner along with original Halloween creator John Carpenter, who will contribute music to the horror movie.

Jamie Lee Curtis returns to her iconic role as Laurie Strode, who comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.

Blumhouse’s Halloween hits theaters October 19, 2018.
