Lupita Nyong'o and Kristen Stewart are reportedly being considered for two of the leading roles, Variety has learned.

Kristen Stewart and Lupita Nyong’o are reportedly in “early talks” to star in the movie, which will be directed by Banks. “The Twilight star would play one of the members of the female private detective agency,” according to Variety. “Stewart’s is not the only name being considered. Casting is underway, and Sony… is also interested in several other big names, including Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong’o.” There’s no word on who will join the Personal Shopper and The Last Jedi actresses as the third personable yet perceptive investigator. However, casting has just gotten underway and Sony is reportedly considering several other recognizable actresses for the film.

Charlie’s Angels tells the story of three women who work as touch and talented private detectives for an unseen millionaire. Charlie’s Angels first charmed audiences in 1976 during a five-season run on ABC, starring Farah Fawcett, Kate Jackson, and Jaclyn Smith. It returned to the zeitgeist with a 2000 movie starring Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, and Lucy Liu as the Angels, which earned $264.1 million at the box office. A sequel, Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, did not fare as well domestically, but was a hit overseas.

The Charlie's Angels reboot will be directed by Elizabeth Banks (Pitch Perfect 2), with Banks also producing alongside Elizabeth Cantillon and Max Handelman. The film is slated to hit theaters in summer 2019.

Kristen Stewart’s latest films have mostly been in the realm of independent productions and arthouse cinema, with appearances in Personal Shopper and Cafe Society. She’s also tried her hand at directing, as the brains behind the video for the Chvrches track, ‘Down Side Me’. Lupita Nyong’o will be reprising her role as Maz Kanata when Star Wars: The Last Jedi comes out in December.
